CALYPSO VALOIS

Actress, musician

Author, composer, performer and actress, Calypso Valois is an artist passionate about art in all its forms.
After acting lessons in Paris, she quickly began working with renowned directors like Olivier Assayas – with whom she collaborated on two films, Après Mai (in competition at the 69th Venice Film Festival) and Personal Shopper (prize of the staging of the 69th edition of the Cannes Film Festival), Catherine Corsini La Belle Saison, Michel Gondry L’Ecume des Jours and Isabelle Czajka La Vie Domestique.
Along with her activity as an actress, Calypso Valois developed a musical career. In the early 2010s, she appeared in a duet with Etienne Daho on the track Amoureux Solitaires and released several EPs with her group then called “Cinema”. After several remarkable singles, Calypso Valois is now advancing solo. At the end of 2017, she released her first album “Cannibale” with which she imposed her fiercely French-speaking, poetic and narrative orchestral pop. But the cinema is never very far, for her clips she collaborates with her favorite directors, Christophe Honoré and Bertrand Mandico, as well as with the photographer Marcel Hartmann.
In 2019, Calypso Valois is starring in the new film by British director Ralph Fiennes Noureev, a biographical drama about the life of the Russian dancer and choreographer. She played the role of Claire Motte, star dancer of the Paris Opera in the 60s. That same year we could also see her play Lydia Bazooka in the Canal + series Vernon Subutex, an adaptation of the eponymous bestseller by Virginie. Despentes, alongside Romain Duris and Céline Sallette.
